I understood more about real-life testing procedures and working environment, which is quite different from in-school learning. It was definitely an eye-opening experience, bringing about inspiration to my future career path.”

Year 2 student

We organized seminars and workshops to teach secondary school students the importance of testing and certification industry in Hong Kong. Recently, we obtained funding support from the Environment and Conservation Fund to promote environmental protection and product safety to secondary school students. One of the workshops was about using used coffee powder to make environmental friendly organic soap and candle.

A group of secondary students participated in our taster workshop recently. They concentrated on designing a protective cover for a glass container. The protection performance of their final design was evaluated by using a drop test. In fact, drop test is a common test in the testing and certification industry. Through this taster workshop, students could gain an idea about the role of testing and certification industry in Hong Kong.

Apart from joining 3^rd International Conference and Exhibition on Advances in Chromatography & HPLC Techniques to acquire updated analytical methods’ theories and applications, we met and communicated with world class scientists in analytical science. One of the posters presented by a group of our students got the best poster award. In this study tour, students visited SGS, Germany and some factories.  

A group of BSc (Hons) in Testing and Certification programme students joined a 7-day study tour to Shanghai, China. They visited several well-known companies to understand how testing and certification knowledge can help the companies to ensure product quality.
