TITLE :

Part-Time Research Assistant I (HALM-Electrochemistry) (Ref.: O/THEi-DCEE/PT_RAI(HALM)/12/25)

Employment Period:

3 months

Major Duties:

The appointee will report directly to the Principal Investigator (PI) and support research focused on the fabrication of a lignin-derived catalytic system, including its catalytic activities towards hydrogen production.  Responsibilities include conducting literature reviews, lignin extraction from wood waste, synthesizing novel lignin-derived catalytic materials, incorporating them into hydrogen storage materials to enhance hydrogen production performance, and setting up testing protocols to optimise functionality as directed by the PI.  Additionally, the appointee will assist in drafting research reports and publications.

Requirements:

Applicants should have a recognised Master’s degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Energy Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related disciplines; or equivalent level of study. 

He/she should have research experience in both organic chemistry and catalytic testing.  Preference will be given to those who have experience in organic syntheses, structural characterisation (NMR, SEM, TEM, XPS, XRD, Raman, FTIR, etc.), lignin extraction, and data analysis skills.  He/she should have a good command of English and Chinese, preferably including Putonghua. 

Notes:

(1) The appointee may be required to perform duties at different sites and work irregular hours, and on Saturdays and Sundays as necessary.
(2) The remuneration package will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
(3) The appointee will work at either Chai Wan or Tsing Yi Campus.
