Cheers to THEi researchers! THEi was awarded an impressive total of HK$13.6 million of research funding by the Research Grants Council (RGC) in the 2020\/21 round of the Competitive Research Funding Schemes for the Local Self-financing Degree Sector.<\/p>

In March 2020, THEi and fourteen other local higher education institutions submitted over 300 research proposals to the RGC competing for funding support. Results were announced today. THEi received HK$7.7M from the Faculty Development Scheme in support of 9 research projects led by individual academic staff from a variety of discipline including engineering, hospitality, surveying, horticulture, humanities, microbiology and information technology; HK$0.9M from the Inter-Institutional Development Scheme to organize workshops and seminars on urban landscape and sustainable fashion for academics and professionals; and HK$5M from the Institutional Development Scheme-Research Infrastructure Grant to establish a Centre for Interdisciplinary Research on Food By-products Utilization (CIFU). The funding will enable THEi academics to carry out high quality research in their specialty areas in the coming three years.<\/p>
