<\/a>[1] Where possible, the Hong Kong Observatory will issue an early alert (i.e. a \u201cPre-No. 8 Gale Or Storm Signal Special Announcement\u201d) within two hours of the hoisting of the No. 8 Gale Or Storm Signal. When a Pre- No.8 Gale Or Storm Signal Special Announcement is issued, all classes \/ activities of campuses \/ centres (including examinations*) will immediately be suspended.<\/p>

<\/a>[2] If situation warrants, the Government may issue an \u201cExtreme Condition\u201d announcement before No. 8 Gale Or Storm Signal is replaced with Strong Wind Signal No. 3. The \u201cExtreme Condition\u201d, if issued, normally covers the two-hour period after cancellation of No. 8 Gale Or Storm Signal, and may be extended or cancelled by the end of the two-hour period.<\/p>

All classes and examinations should continue (except those taking place outdoors) until the end of the session, and if it is the end of the school day where BLACK signal is still in force, students should be advised to return home only when conditions are safe (Note).<\/td><\/tr>

If students are not yet in Institute premises due to difference in class timetables, they should stay home or take shelter in a safe place. For classes and examinations conducted outdoor, the responsible staff on the spot should suspend the activities immediately and ensure that all students are taking shelter in a safe place.<\/p>

Students are requested to follow the arrangements set out above in times of typhoons, “Extreme Condition” and rainstorms. No public announcement will be made on TV \/ Radio by VTC.<\/strong><\/u>\u00a0 If circumstances permit, the announcement on suspension or resumption of classes will be published on the Institute\u2019s website (www.thei.edu.hk<\/a>).<\/p>
