The 1st phase of this year's THEi BIM Competition<\/div> <\/h2><\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

The 1st phase of this year’s THEi BIM Competition has been successfully completed. We would like to thank all the participants\/teams for their active participation and the judging panel for evaluating the works. Congratulations again to all the winners!<\/p>

The winners of the 1st phase will be invited to enter the 2nd phase of the competition to showcase their “Small Ideas, Big Future” concepts using BIM technology. We will hold a BIM workshop on March 28th for the 2nd phase participants to learn the operation methods of BIM software. We will share the highlights of the workshop with you all after it. Competition Aim<\/div> <\/h2><\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Digital technologies are changing the operating model and development of the construction and building services industry in all aspects, and Building Information Modelling (BIM) is one of the emerging technologies in the industry. BIM plays different roles at each stage of the building asset life cycle, such as improving efficiency and flexibility in the planning and design stages, improving productivity and safety in the construction and operation stages, and helping to improve indoor environmental quality and building sustainability.<\/p>

The Department of Construction, Environment and Engineering (DCEE) of THEi continues to organise the BIM competition for secondary school students this year. This competition encourages students to inject innovative, interesting, and feasible energy-saving and carbon-reducing ideas into existing buildings in Hong Kong. Participants would have the chance to experience BIM technology in fun and practical ways, which would broaden their horizons in terms of future study and career development.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

This year’s competition challenges participants to reimagine and upgrade the built environment of Hong Kong’s kindergartens. As these spaces are where young children spend their formative years, an excellent indoor and outdoor environment is crucial for their holistic development \u2014 fostering physical health, social skills, aesthetic appreciation, and a sense of responsibility. However, many kindergartens are constrained by outdated infrastructure, which hinders their ability to achieve these essential environmental qualities. Participants will propose innovative design solutions focused on optimising natural resources and space utilisation, ultimately aiming to create greener and more inspiring campuses for early education.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

In the first phase of the competition, participants will propose campus upgrade and\/or modifications deals for the designated kindergarten and submit a pre-recorded presentation video to express their ideas.<\/p>

In the second phase of the competition, participants will use BIM technology and 3D digital building models to visualises the ideas proposed in the first phase and present their proposals to the judges.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
