The\u00a0Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong\u202fheld its\u00a0Graduation Ceremony 2025\u00a0from\u00a022\u00a0November\u00a0to\u00a026 November, conferring academic qualifications\u00a0to\u00a0nearly 1,300\u00a0graduates.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

In his\u00a0opening remarks,\u00a0Prof Alan LAU Kin-tak, President of THEi,\u00a0congratulated all graduates and expressed\u00a0his\u00a0appreciation\u00a0to both the graduates and their parents for their\u00a0faith\u00a0in the\u00a0Institute. This\u00a0faith\u00a0allowed\u00a0the\u00a0graduates\u00a0to achieve their accomplishments and\u00a0embark\u00a0on a\u00a0new chapter in their lives.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Prof LAU pointed out that since its establishment in 2012, THEi has\u00a0aligned with the vision of the HKSAR Government,\u00a0dedicating itself\u00a0to promoting the development of applied science and technology education in Hong Kong.\u00a0This year,\u00a0the team\u00a0from the\u00a0Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Fashion Design programme\u00a0has designed\u00a0and produced a collection of neckties\u00a0and scarves\u00a0for\u00a0the\u00a0Chief Executive and his team\u00a0to be worn\u00a0during the\u00a0Policy Address 2025, recognising\u00a0the\u00a0team\u2019s\u00a0creativity and professional ideas.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

2025 marks a historic year for THEi. The institute\u00a0not only launches new courses and teaching resources for the 2025\/26 academic year but also welcomes a record number of students while advancing several initiatives for internationalisation. Among these initiatives are the partnerships\u00a0established\u00a0with Aston University in the UK and Flinders University in Australia\u00a0respectively, aiming to provide seamless pathways for students to connect with\u00a0offshore\u00a0doctoral degree programmes. Additionally, the\u00a0Institute\u00a0hosted its inaugural Belt and Road Leadership Forum on Applied Science and Vocational Education, promoting collaboration and exchange between regional institutions and industry experts.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

The\u00a0Institute\u00a0is preparing to transition into a University of Applied Sciences (UAS) in 2026.\u00a0As a pioneer in applied science, he expressed\u00a0gratitude to all industry partners for their support and is dedicated to nurturing\u00a0\u201cwork-ready\u201d\u00a0graduates with professional skills to support the development of industries in Hong Kong,\u00a0Chinese Mainland, and globally.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

He\u00a0said\u00a0that the pace of social change and technological development is far faster than we can imagine, and simply adhering to tradition will only lead to backwardness and stagnation. He\u00a0encouraged the graduates,\u00a0saying,\u00a0“Being willing to try, to innovate, and to take responsibility towards family, friends, loved ones, and society is the attitude we should adopt when facing challenges and work today.”<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>
