In this study, we screened over 500 extracts from medicinal plants in the Lingnan region, leading to the identification of <b><i>Maesa<\/i><\/b> <b><i>perlarius<\/i><\/b> as a notable source of procyanidins with antiviral effects. The methanol extract of this plant demonstrated a significant inhibitory effect against viral pseudotyped particles, with an IC\u2085\u2080 of 0.52 \u00b5g\/mL. Further bioassay-guided fractionation isolated several active procyanidins, exhibiting IC\u2085\u2080 values ranging from 0.83 to 36.0 \u00b5M. Molecular docking studies suggest that these compounds may interact with viral glycoproteins, highlighting their potential mechanism of action.
