香港中文大學的生物學哲學博士。於2014年加入香港高等教育科技學院（THEi高科院），目前為建造、環境及工程學系副教授。

張博士參與多個關於城市可持續發展、生態學及林業等研究項目，並在多份國際學術期刊上發表了超過40篇論文，涵蓋城市生態學、景觀生態學、城市綠化等多個領域。2017年起出任香港園藝專業學會副會長，致力推動香港園境及樹藝專業的發展，並為多個本地機構提供諮詢服務。

張博士積極推動教育創新，並致力推廣香港的應用科學專業教育。他倡導院校與業界及其他持份者之間的「產學研」全方位緊密合作。張博士負責成立的園藝樹藝及園境管理（榮譽）理學士課程，是香港首批應用學位課程之一，著重理論與實踐結合，並提供大量的實習和基於工作的學習經驗。該課程於2022/2023學年推出，標誌著香港高等教育應用領域發展的重要里程碑。
