Major Duties:
The appointee shall engage in teaching and related learning activities, developing programme curriculum, teaching & learning, and assessment materials. He/She shall also support students in their learning, participate in the academic and scholarly activities of the Department, and undertake academic and administrative support services for the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Hotel Operations Management programme, with English and/or Putonghua as the Medium of Instruction (MOI).
The appointee will need to fulfil teaching duties, including but not limited to, the preparation of teaching materials, development and marking of assessment items, and the delivery of lectures and tutorials. He/She should be able to teach at least one of the following modules:
- Business Ethics & Law (MOI: English);
- Staff Training & Development (MOI: Putonghua)
Requirements:
The successful candidates should have a recognised Master’s degree, preferably a doctoral degree, in Law, Business Management, or a related discipline. He/She should have at least 4 years’ relevant teaching experience at the tertiary level and/or professional experience in the hospitality industry or related fields.
Candidates teaching the Business Ethics & Law module (MOI: English) must demonstrate a sound understanding of Hong Kong’s legal system.
Candidates teaching the Staff Training & Development module (MOI: Putonghua) must fulfil one of the following criteria:
(a) Mother tongue/language is Putonghua; or
(b) Received a recognised Bachelor’s degree or above for which the medium of instruction (MOI) was Putonghua; or
(c) At least 3 years of work experience in Chinese Mainland or other Putonghua-speaking countries or regions; or
(d) Attained one of the following qualifications:
i. Grade B, Level 2 or above in the Putonghua Shuiping Ceshi (PSC) – Putonghua Proficiency Test administered by the State Language Commission; or
ii. Level 3 or above in the Language Proficiency Assessment for Teachers (Putonghua) administered by the Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority (HKEAA) or equivalent.
Notes:
(1) The MOI of the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Hotel Operations Management programme is English and/or Putonghua.
(2) The appointee may be required to perform duties at different locations and work irregular hours, including weekends, as necessary.
(3) The remuneration package will be competitive and commensurate with the appointee’s qualifications and experience.
(4) The appointee will work at the Chai Wan Campus and/or nearby teaching premises.
