TITLE :

Part-time Lecturer (Hotel Operations Management) in Putonghua (Ref.: O/THEi-DHBM/PTL(HOM_PTH)/10/25)

Department of Hospitality and Business Management

Major Duties:

The appointee(s) shall report to the Programme Leader and Head of Department and engage in teaching and related learning activities with Putonghua as the medium of instruction (MOI), developing programme curriculum, teaching & learning, and assessment materials. He/She shall also support students in their learning, participate in academic and scholarly activities, and undertake academic and administrative support services for the Hotel Operations Management programme.

The appointee(s) will need to fulfil teaching duties, including but not limited to the preparing teaching materials, developing and marking assessment items, and delivering lectures and tutorials for at least ONE of the following modules:

  • Customer Services Management

  • Entrepreneurship
  • Environmental Management in the Hospitality Industry

  • Wine, Spirits & Food Affinities


Requirements:

The successful candidate(s) should have a recognised Master’s degree, preferably a Doctoral degree, in Hospitality Management or a related discipline; with at least 4 years of teaching experience at tertiary level and/or professional practice in relevant fields. Candidate(s) with strong industry networks will be highly desirable.

The candidate(s) should be a good team player, have good interpersonal and communication skills, and have high proficiency in English and Chinese, including Putonghua. He/She must also fulfil ONE of the following criteria:

(a) Mother tongue/language is Putonghua; or
(b) Possess a recognised Bachelor’s degree or above for which the medium of instruction (MOI) was Putonghua; or
(c) At least 3 years of work experience in Chinese Mainland or other Putonghua-speaking countries or regions; or
(d) Attained one of the following qualifications:
            i. At least Grade B, Level 2 in the Putonghua Shuiping Ceshi (PSC) – Putonghua Proficiency Test administered by the State Commission on Language Work; or
            ii. Level 3 or above in the Assessment Papers of the Language Proficiency Assessment for Teachers (Putonghua) administered by the Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority (HKEAA) or equivalent.


Notes:

(1) The medium of instruction (MOI) for the programme is Putonghua.
(2) The shortlisted candidates will be required to provide evidence of proficiency in formal Chinese writing and deliver a teaching demonstration in Putonghua.
(3) The appointee(s) may be required to perform duties at different sites and work irregular hours, shifts and on Saturdays and Sundays as necessary.
(4) The remuneration package will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
(5) The appointee(s) will work at the Chai Wan Campus.
