Major Duties:
(a) To be responsible for the management and operation of the fitness room, including conducting fitness induction courses for new users;
(b) To provide technical support to staff and students in the use of fitness room facilities;
(c) To assist in the setup of facilities and services for the Department;
(d) To set up and support different sports representative teams of THEi and arrange inter-university sporting events and competitions;
(e) To assist academic staff of the Department in the preparation and demonstration of sports-related practical classes and projects; and
(f) To design and develop training materials, and to conduct practical training and workshops for students or staff.
Requirements:
(a) A recognised Bachelor’s degree or above in Physical Education, Sports, Sports Science or a related discipline;
(b) Possession of teaching experience particularly, in higher education or with adults;
(c) Possession of at least one valid Strength & Conditioning (S&C) certification, such as:
i) Australian Strength and Conditioning Association (ASCA)
ii) UK Strength & Conditioning Association (UKSCA)
iii) National Strength and Conditioning Association Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (NSCA-CSCS)
(d) Proven experience in prescribing, delivering and progressing S&C and personal training programmes;
(e) Experience in working with teenage and adult populations, including high-functioning or professional individuals, is preferred;
(f) Possession of good communication, interpersonal and presentation skills;
(g) Possession of a valid first aid certificate or evidence of working towards such a qualification; and
(h) High proficiency in both English and Chinese, preferably including Putonghua.
Notes:
(1) The appointee may be required to perform duties at different sites and outside Hong Kong, and to work irregular hours, shifts, and on Saturdays and Sundays, as necessary.
(2) The remuneration package will be competitive and commensurate with the appointee’s qualifications and experience.
(3) The appointee will work at the Chai Wan Campus and/or nearby teaching premises.
(4) In support of the Sexual Conviction Record Check (SCRC) Scheme launched by the Hong Kong Police Force, all prospective appointees will be requested to undergo the SCRC at the advanced stage of the employment process.
