Biofilms are naturally occurring communities of microbes that associated with a surface and surrounded by a matrix. Matrix formation alters the behaviours of disease-causing microbes and it is believed that the matrix contributes to the ability to microbial infection. Thus, it is envisaged that suppressing matrix formation would be a tangible approach to fight against microbial diseases.
