TITLE :

Lecturer (English Language)

School of General Education and Languages

Major Duties:

The appointee shall report to the Head of the School of General Education and Languages (SGEL), work as part of a team, and engage in the following duties:

(a) To deliver teaching and related learning activities to support students’ academic language development;
(b) To develop and revise programme curriculum to meet academic learning standards;
(c) To support students in their learning and provide academic guidance;
(d) To Develop learning and teaching materials (including self-access and e-learning materials) using AI tools and other new technologies;
(e) To monitor and assess student progress, and provide constructive feedback and appropriate learning strategies;
(f) To participate in academic and scholarly activities that contribute to research and professional development;
(g) To provide academic and administrative support services to the School and the Institute; and
(h) To perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of School and the senior management of the Institute.

Requirements:

(a) A recognised Master’s degree, preferably a Doctoral degree, in TESOL, English Language or Literature, Linguistics, English Language Education or related disciplines;
(b) Preferably with experience in research and professional development activities ;
(c) Good communication, interpersonal and presentation skills;
(d) Native or native-like English proficiency;
(e) A good command of Putonghua and/or Cantonese will be preferred; and
(f) Engagement with industries and/or professional bodies will be an advantage.

Notes:

(1) The candidate may be appointed on a short-term or part-time basis.
(2) The post is at the rank of Teaching Fellow II.
(3) The appointee may be required to perform duties at different locations, including outside Hong Kong, and to work irregular hours, shifts, and weekends, as necessary.
(4) The remuneration package will be competitive and commensurate with the appointee’s qualifications and experience.
(5) The appointee will work at the Chai Wan and Tsing Yi Campuses.
