Post Specification

TITLE :

Technician (Cinematic Arts and Technology)

Department of Digital Innovation and Technology

Major Duties:

(a) To oversee the setting up of facilities and services for the Department;
(b) To be responsible for the management of various teaching facilities, such as video production studios, photographic studios, computer graphics studios, computer laboratories, and related support services;
(c) To provide technical support and guidance to staff and students in teaching & learning and research-related activities;
(d) To supervise the installation, commissioning, operation and maintenance of equipment and apparatus;
(e) To assist with demonstrations and laboratory or practical classes and projects;
(f) To coordinate the procurement of consumables, equipment and systems;
(g) To maintain inventory records and prepare estimates for stores and equipment; and
(h) To oversee and enforce safety regulations in the designated areas of the Department, and to ensure cleanliness and tidiness of the operating areas.

Requirements:
(a) A recognised Diploma or a Higher Certificate in a relevant discipline;
(b) At least two years’ relevant working experience;
(c) Proficiency in various common operating systems, office software and computer-aided design systems, preferably with specific craftsmanship and experience in computer-controlled hardware;
(d) Good knowledge of operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of computer hardware, networking, and audio/visual equipment;
(e) Experience / knowledge / skills in one or more of the following areas will be an advantage:

  • Audio production and sound engineering;
  • Basic knowledge of visual effects (VFX), motion graphics, or 3D production workflows;
  • Media asset management and storage systems;
  • Operation and maintenance of video production equipment;
  • Studio and location shooting support; and
  • Video editing and post-production software.

(f) Ability to work independently and be a good team player; and
(g) Good interpersonal and communication skills in both English and Chinese.

Notes:
(1) The appointee may be required to perform duties at different sites and work irregular hours, shifts and on Saturdays and Sundays as necessary.
(2) The remuneration package will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
(3) The appointee will work at the Chai Wan Campus.
