Major Duties:
The appointee will report directly to the Principal Investigator (PI) and support research and development activities in robotics, embedded AI, intelligent sensing, and AI-enabled engineering applications. Responsibilities include conducting literature reviews; assisting in the design, integration, testing, and evaluation of robotic and embedded systems, and developing and testing AI-based modules for perception, localisation, mapping, and decision support. The role also involves integrating sensors, microcontrollers/embedded platforms, cameras, and data-acquisition devices; organising, pre-processing, and analysing experimental data; deploying and evaluating AI models on embedded or edge-computing platforms; maintaining technical documentation; and assisting with research reports, presentations, demonstrations, and publications.
Requirements:
Applicants may be considered for the positions of Research Assistant I (RA I) or Research Assistant II (RA II), depending on their qualifications and experience. For both positions, applicants are required to have hands-on experience in embedded systems development, data processing, and strong programming skills (such as Python, C, or C++). Familiarity with embedded AI, robotics, or intelligent sensing applications is essential, including experience with YOLO-based object detection, SLAM, sensor interfacing, and real-time data acquisition. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in artificial intelligence or machine learning, embedded deployment, time-series analysis, or sensor data analytics. He/She should have good communication skills, self-motivation, the ability to work independently, and clear documentation abilities.
Research Assistant I (RA I): Applicants should have a Master’s degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science/Data Science, Robotics/Automation, Artificial Intelligence, Mechatronics, or a related discipline; or a recognised Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline accompanied by pertinent work experience, or equivalent qualifications.
Research Assistant II (RA II): Applicants should have a recognised Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science/Data Science, Robotics/Automation, Artificial Intelligence, Mechatronics, or a related discipline, or an equivalent level of study; or a recognised sub-degree in a relevant discipline, or an equivalent level of study.
備註:
(1) This is a full-time position under an initial three-month employment contract, with the possibility of renewal subject to project needs, funding availability, and satisfactory performance.
(2) The appointee may be required to perform duties at different locations, including outside Hong Kong, and to work irregular hours, shifts, and on Saturdays and Sundays as necessary.
(3) The remuneration package will be competitive and commensurate with the appointee’s qualifications and experience.
(4) The appointee will work at the Tsing Yi Campus.
