My internship in a theme park enhanced my design skills through working on costume design. I also received internship training in a big fashion label and learned about management and operations of the fashion business. Upon graduation, I was hired as management trainee in the same company, developing my career in fashion management. 

I interned at the Hong Kong Designers Association during my study, gaining design experiences and learning from different designers which gave me a lot of inspirations. My exchanges to Singapore and Barcelona in Spain also broadened my horizon. After I graduated, I was ready to start my dream career and joined an NGO as design manager.

I have learned many different coaching methods in the SRM programme, which have also provided me with a lot of practical training opportunities. My knowledge and skills learned from the programme have provided me with a strong pillar to further pursue my studies to become a well-rounded PE teacher.

I joined the winery tour in Bordeaux and received training on wine culture and food and beverage management. I also had an opportunity to visit Michelin-starred restaurants where I observed their serving etiquette and learned about wine pairing.

Our programme leader and tutors at THEi BA (Hons) in Landscape Architecture are all very supportive, helping us to step into the discipline with practical courses and a wide range of internship opportunities in both public and private sectors. With their encouragement, I have completed a Master’s degree in the UK, and am now working with advanced practitioners in a UK-based landscape firm.  My horizons have been extraordinarily broadened to a level that I never expected.

The BA (Hons) in Landscape Architecture made me realise the beauty and complexity of landscape architecture. In every design studio, I enjoyed field studies with experts including landscape architects, urban planners, ecologists, and others, who helped me to understand site and context at all scales.  Through the course I interned in LWK & Partners, working on real commercial landscape design projects. Upon graduation, I pursued a Master of Landscape Architecture in the University of Hong Kong. Through my student journey I realised that Landscape Architecture is all around us.

In the past three years of study in THEi’s Culinary Arts and Management Programme, I have had various chances to broaden my horizon through overseas trips and internships. 

In 2016 summer, I had participated in a French winery trip to Bordeaux and Bergerac. I gained knowledge on wine culture and paring, and even had a chance to experience the fieldwork in the winery.

Just after the winery trip, I took an internship in the Andara Resort & Villas (LKF Group) in Phuket, Thailand, via the Undergraduates Summer Internship Programme by Maritime Silk Road Society. I worked in the Western kitchen, Thai kitchen and the Bar. It was such a treasurable experience to learn from the Thai Executive Chef Ooy. Andara was also the place that I discovered my career interest and talent as a bartender.

After coming back from Phuket, I have started working in a Michelin recommended burger restaurant, Beef & Liberty, as a bartender. I have applied relevant knowledge and skills learnt from school and previous internships. And thanks god that I have met two great managers there, Ming and Gigi, who have no reservations in teaching all the service and management tactics to me.

In CAM, I have been equipped with practical skills and management theories. Now I am looking forward to the exciting career ahead!

Exchange Student to the Trier University of Applied Sciences, Germany

The Surveying programme of THEi provided me with comprehensive learning experiences. Talks from the industry and site visits were frequently organised whilst studio projects encouraged us to discover and learn more beyond regular teaching. We were motivated and given opportunities to learn new technologies such as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV). I had the opportunities to work as an intern both in a government department and a private firm. The programme provided excellent industry exposure to students and better equipped ourselves for our professional career in the future.

THEi supported me with unlimited chances and resources to explore my inner self as well as my career path. Most highlighted experiences were Worldskills Competition in Abu Dhabi with full sponsorship; academic exchange programme in Germany and internship programme in a new five-star hotel where I am currently working at!

Apart from tailor-made teaching and learning activities, our programme always invites different industry experts to share industry trends and professional experience with us at discipline-specific seminars and workshops.  Thanks to these juicy activities, we are not only passionate about PR profession, but also equipped with relevant knowledge and skills.

The SRM programme provided me a scholarship to join a one-semester ex-change to HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht, Netherlands. The exchange experience not only broadened my horizons in the field of sports management, especially applicable in Europe, but also cultivated my determination to pursue further study in the UK.

THEi SRM programme allowed me to pursue my goal of treating patients in need, by equipping me with knowledge and skills. As an athlete, the course has been beneficial where I was able to apply strength and conditioning principles as well as injury prevention and rehabilitation protocols. On top of that, making loads of friends!

I interned at a reputed hydraulic engineering company in Singapore to learn the latest industry technologies. After graduation, I joined the listed Build King Holdings as a Graduate Engineer. The knowledge and internship experiences I acquired helped me enter the engineering profession. 

I joined URS Corporation, a Fortune 500 professional consultant company, and Atkins as an intern. I received on-the-job training by conducting energy audit as well as environmental and structural testing.

Working with senior consultants and exchanging information with interns around the world, I also gained better insights into the global development trends of the industry.

As an intern in an engineering firm under the listed group, Build King Holdings, I was involved in the environmental management works of the Express Rail Link. I learned a lot from my senior and had access to advanced environmental technologies. After graduation, I joined the same company, moving one step closer to my dream of becoming a chartered environmental engineer!

Earlier we have received scholarship awards and attended the “IDEA World Fitness Convention” in the United States.

Many famous fitness specialists were there sharing their experience and the most up-to-date industry trends. Through attending various workshops, we improved our coaching and therapy skills as well as knowledge of nutrition.

I have worked in Chun Wo Building Construction Limited and Sanfield (Management) Limited during my study and engaged in site formation work of residential units. The practical training enhanced my understanding of the proper work processes. Upon my graduation, I was hired by the Government as Structural Engineering Graduate, heading my way to become a professional engineer.

The experience of participating in this large-scale project is so valuable.  The opportunity of working with the experienced engineers and industry experts has broadened my knowledge of the prospects and future development of the industry.

I joined an internship at SPI Prohealth Asia and provided therapy support services at several world-class events, including the Hong Kong Sevens and the Hong Kong Open Charity Cup. The internship allowed me to fully apply my knowledge and skills in real-life situations. After graduating, I joined the same company as a full-time sports therapist.

The systematic training scheme equipped me with knowledge and skills on operational management.  Working with the experienced team has inspired my creativity in culinary arts and reassured my passion to further develop my career in the industry.

In my 1st-year studies, I joined Café Landmark of the Maxim’s Group as an intern. I learnt a lot about the operations of delivering quality Western cuisine. I also garnered insights into the management skills required by the modern Food & Beverage industry.

This valuable experience in a real-world environment prepared me for my future career.

The SRM programme not only provided me intensive knowledge in sport and recreation, and also broaden my horizon from a great variety of internships and work-integrated-learning activities. The four-year of SRM experiences really helped me to develop my career.
