General Education Programme

Objectives

THEi aims to produce graduates who are not only experts in their specialist professions but flexible with broadly applicable transferrable skills. The General Education (GE) curriculum helps to promote this by having the following major objectives:

  • To introduce students to the broad perspectives of the Humanities, Sciences, and Social Sciences and their relationship to contemporary issues and the problems and challenges faced by professional practitioners
  • To cultivate broadly applicable transferrable skills, competencies and values that will contribute to professional success, lifelong learning and whole-person development.
  • Intended Learning Outcomes

    Students who complete the GE Programme will be able to:

  • Demonstrate a capacity for critical thinking, self-reflection, and analysis;
  • Recognise ethically, socially and globally responsible action;
  • Engage in self-directed learning;
  • Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills;
  • Engage in creative problem-solving;;
  • Demonstrate interpersonal skills associated with leadership and teamwork; and
  • Apply the broad principles of the Humanities, Sciences, and Social Sciences to practical problems and contemporary issues.
