TITLE :

Part-time Technician (Digital Manufacturing)

Department of Construction, Environment and Engineering

Employment Period:

12 months

Major Duties:

(a) To assist in setting up and maintaining facilities and equipment for the Digital Manufacturing laboratories;
(b) To support the routine operation, management and safety of the laboratories, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations; and
(c) To assist academic staff and provide technical support to students during practical classes, laboratory work and projects.

Requirements:

(a) A recognised Diploma or Higher Certificate, preferably a higher qualification, in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline;
(b) Technical competency in one or more of the following areas: CNC machining, 3D printing, and robotic arm operation, including:
(i) At least two years of proven hands-on experience in operating a 4-axis CNC machine; and/or
(ii) Demonstrated proficiency in the operation and maintenance of 3D printers, with prior experience using the Voron series being an advantage; and/or
(iii) Practical experience in operating and maintaining a robotic arm (e.g., basic teaching/programming, calibration, and safety procedures), is preferred;
(c) At least 2 years’ relevant work experience, preferably in tertiary education institutions or comparable organisations;
(d) Preference will be given to candidates with hands-on experience in operating and maintaining digital manufacturing / prototyping equipment in a workshop or laboratory setting;
(e) Be responsible, safety-conscious, and able to document work clearly;
(f)  Good communication and interpersonal skills; and
(g) Good command of English and Chinese, preferably including Putonghua.

Notes:

(1)  The appointee may be required to perform duties at different sites and work irregular hours, including Saturdays and Sundays as necessary.
(2) The remuneration package will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
(3) The appointee will work at the Tsing Yi Campus.
