Two Year 4 Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Public Relations and Management (PRM) students, Kary Lo and Karen Luk, were selected to participate in the 10-Day camp organised by the Hong Kong Sports Press Association in April 2017. The camp aims to enhance young sports reporters’ (YSR) profession skills in sports reporting. This is a regional event where participants from neighbourhood countries were invited to share their friendship and experience with Hong Kong young reporters.
Participants were provided chances to learn, practice and understand rules of different sports, including rugby, rock climbing, and shooting, so that they can present a true picture of the game to the audience as a professional sports reporter. They were also taught practical skills in outdoor and TV news programme production, and the essentials of operating mega sports events.
The 10-day camp has immersed the YSR in the business and invigorated their interest in sports. “We feel different and we are ready to start our career as a sports event reporter!” commented Kary Lo and Karen Luk after the camp.
