Professional Qualifications Recognition
The Professional Diploma in Building Information Modelling Programme is accredited by the Construction Industry Council (CIC) as a registered BIM Manager course. The programme is also accredited by the Hong Kong Institute of Building Information Modelling (HKIBIM) as fulfilling the academic requirement of its Professional Membership (For graduates with bachelor’s degree) / Associate Membership (For graduates without bachelor’s degree).
Programme Aims
The PD in BIM programme aims to provide in-depth knowledge on the principles and practices of BIM and to develop technical and strategic planning skills for BIM project planning and implementation in different professional disciplines and technical areas. The programme will focus on BIM applications for lifecycle planning and management of building, construction and infrastructure projects, with effective design modelling and analysis, productive construction coordination and visualization, efficient cost estimation and management, holistic asset and facility management, and sustainable building design and operation.
Career Prospects
BIM adoption has grown significantly in the building and construction industry in the world. The growing importance of BIM gave rise to an urgent need for BIM professionals, coordinators and specialists who have good technical and strategic planning skills for BIM projects. Upon graduation, graduates of the PD in BIM programme can apply the BIM approach to designing, analyzing and managing building lifecycle and they can also look forward to career opportunities and development such as advancing to the positions of BIM Project Coordinators/Leaders and BIM Managers/Consultants/Specialists.
Entry Requirements
Admission is on a competitive basis, with applicants judged on their ability to meet the entrance requirements of the Programme. The minimum entry requirement is a Higher Diploma (HD) or Associate Degree (AD) in construction or engineering related disciplines, or a bachelor’s degree in other disciplines with relevant working experience, or equivalent.

Ir Vincent Yuen is a former Director at Gammon Construction Limited and Project Director at Dragages Hong Kong Limited, also serving as Committee Member (Building Division) of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers and Board Member of the Hong Kong Concrete Institute.
Ir Vincent Yuen is a Chartered Builder, a Chartered Civil Engineer, a Chartered Manager, a Registered Professional Engineer with proven track records of leading and motivating large team of consultants and construction professionals to facilitate delivery of extremely fast track and large scale projects, including the Midfield concourse project a t the Hong Kong International Airport, the design and build construction of the Cruise Terminal Building for the Kai Tak Development, KCRC Contract LDB201 Sheung Shui to Chau Tau EPBTBM tunneling and civil engineering works.
With regard to BIM implementation and management, Vincent supervised a team of BIM modelers at the HKAA Midfield Project for design, crash analysis, workability and methodology studies of ABWF, MEP, structural headroom, quality controls, facade and cladding works, sophisticated ceiling panels profile and installation. In addition, he was the “Director Director-in -Charge” of a 1.6 billion Grade A class commercial building which adopted BIM applications in associated with facility management optimising energy consumption of future building operations.
