The joyful study of product design has enriched my life. Going from imagining to successfully making my own design is an interesting and rewarding experience. Cooperative projects with the industry, such as HKSTP and Lidl broadened my thinking.
The joyful study of product design has enriched my life. Going from imagining to successfully making my own design is an interesting and rewarding experience.
The courses provided different learning experiences for us. Besides the theoretical knowledge, there are also many cooperative projects with the industry, such as HKSTP and Lidl. Unlike traditional classroom learning, our design needs to meet the requirements of real customers by considering all aspects, such as mechanism, technology and production. These challenging opportunities broadened my thinking and enhance my communication skills.
Prototyping is an important learning process. The well-equipped workshop also enhances our design ability, such as 3d printers, lathe, CNC machines and laser cut machines, etc., we can make our own creations or handicrafts by ourselves. Technicians are also responsible for taking care of us and giving advice.
Moreover, all the teachers are kind and trustworthy. The teacher-student relationship is like a friend, and we can ask them for help at any time. They give useful advice to us no matter the study or employment. They also encourage us to participate in more internships and competitions. During the internships and competitions, we can meet more industry professionals and broaden our vision.
I want to involve myself in the design industry for a further career after the four years of study in Thei.

In THEi, students are not only learning from books but also applying what they have learned in their lives. While absorbing the knowledge, students can balance their studies with their lives.
It was a big challenge for me to study Product Design at THEi. When I first came to the school, I had no knowledge of hand-drawn and electro-drawn products, but after the teachers explained in class, answered students' questions after class, and practiced with my classmates, my understanding of product design was deepened by the teachers' knowledge and discussions with the students. In addition to this, we also have many opportunities to contact different design companies in the society in the project, and there are people in the industry to talk to afterward regularly, so we can understand the current market demand for design. Thus, I am very prepared for work after graduation. In addition, the school also regularly disseminates information about internal and external design competitions, thus giving students a platform to give play to their talents. For example, to relieve students' stress, Thei organizes some arts and crafts activities so that students can relax physically and mentally before taking exams. In THEi, students are not only learning from books but also applying what they have learned in their lives. While absorbing the knowledge, students can balance their studies with their lives.

Apart from technical skills for design, I can gain lots of practical advice for my creation and future career path from my teachers. I can design products including IoT products, daily necessities, watch and jewelry, toy, furniture and even sex toys.
I love to create different kinds of handicrafts when I studied in secondary school including resin accessories, wool felting and wood crafting. Therefore, I chose the Product Design programme as my principal study, as I can enjoy the satisfaction of creating products. Apart from technical skills for design, I can gain lots of practical advice for my creation and future career path from my teachers. With different modules in the course, I can reach and design different kinds of products including IoT products, daily necessaries, watch and jewellery, toy, furniture and even sex toys. My study in this course allowed me to reach different aspects of design. I have also joined the global design programme to study in a short term at Swinburne University in Melbourne in which I can study industrial design. Throughout the four years of learning, I actively participated in the different design competitions, and design events including BODW and Remix programme which would enrich my portfolio. Those experiences helped me to clarify my career path and future targets and built connection networks with talents from different professionals. Besides, I have also applied for several internships which also broaden my knowledge about the design industry. For example, I worked for a start-up in HKSTP to cooperate with engineers to produce mobility products. I have the chance to realise the production process of the actual products. All in all, I am grateful to meet all my teachers, designers and classmates, as they help create a wonderful learning environment and experience for me within these four years.

As a design student at THEi, I have always been taught to think about ways creatively but also combine my skills to synthesize, identify the right problems, and solve them efficiently and practically.
It has been a memorable and meaningful experience studying Product Design in Thei. Throughout these 4 years of tertiary education, I have been able to acquire the fundamental skills and knowledge of designing products strategically by putting theory into practice. Lessons taught from visual design such as color theory, layout, and aestheticism to user experience design including discovering user pain points, understanding consumer behaviors, and prototyping, have enabled me to manage my own design project when solving real-life problems. While creativity and uniqueness are important, idea generation to meet market demands and excellent visuals for user needs are also essential to a successful product design. Fortunately, as a design student at Thei, I have always been taught to think about ways creatively but also combine my skills to synthesize, identify the right problems, and solve them efficiently and practically. What's more, studying product Design at Thei has also granted me lots of valuable working experiences with the industry through school projects. Through the collaboration, I was able to establish teamwork and communication skills, which helps me to get prepared for entering the workplace in the near future. In short, I would also like to express my deep gratitude to all my supportive fellows, dedicated tutors, and staff of product design who always devote their time and attention to providing me assistance and guidance.

I found myself in a school that accepts and supports me academically as well as my wellbeing. Teachers encourage us to explore ideas, practices and professional skills that will be crucial in our future career. They show us the love and enthusiasm in the field of design. Classmates work together and explore as a team, brainstorming new ideas to leave the world better than how we found it.
From an idea to sketching, 3D modeling to prototype, we put not only time and spirt but also part of us, part of our soul into it. Thei supports us to create our ideas with its fine resources, fast processing computer, a space that is bigger than my home, a room full of DLP 3D Printers and a library that I cannot finish reading in my lifetime.
