Business Sustainability and Corporate Governance -

Performance, Reporting and Assurance

Introduction:

Non-financial information has generated growing interests from the accounting and finance communities over the past decades.  There is a substantial increase in the voluntary disclosure of the firms' environmental, social and governance activities. The Hong Kong Stock Exchange has promulgated in 2015 a requirement of an integrated sustainability and corporate governance report for Hong Kong listed companies.

two-day Conference#organized by the Professional Accounting Programme of the Faculty of Management and Hospitality at THEi will be held in June 2016.  It will focus on the "performance, reporting and assurance" functions of business sustainability and corporate governance by bringing together academics, accounting practitioners and professional bodies to share the economic and theoretical underpinnings, industry best practices and experiences.

Programme:

The programme comprises Keynote Speeches, Research Paper Sessions, Panels on Best Practices and Assurance of Business Sustainability and Corporate Governance. Keynote speakers include Professor Gordon Richardson (KPMG Professor of Accounting, University of Toronto), Mr. Stephen Taylor (Senior Partner, Deloitte China) and Mr. Pat-Nie Woo (Principal of Business Reporting and Sustainability, KPMG).

Research Paper Presentation:

High quality research papers on corporate governance and business sustainability will be presented in the Conference.  Submission is now closed.  Accepted papers will be considered for publication in the JCAE with the ultimate acceptance to the journal to be determined according to the JCAE editorial policies.
