Joyful celebrations at THEi 2023 Graduation Ceremony

Over a thousand of students, parents, friends and honoured guests celebrated the achievements of THEi's graduates on Tuesday and Wednesday across three graduation ceremonies at THEi Chai Wan campus, featuring a warm and solemn ambiance for graduates of the classes of 2023.
28 and 29 November 2023 marked the end of a journey, and the start of a new one for our graduates who received their degrees, cheered on by their families and friends. The graduation ceremony serves as a moment of reflection, celebration, and recognition of each student's accomplishments. We were delighted to have Mr. Tony Tai, JP, VTC Chairman, Mr. Paul Chong, BBS, MH, VTC Deputy Chairman, Dr. Daniel Yip, BBS, JP, VTC Deputy Chairman, to officiate the three ceremonies respectively and to share the joy with the students.
Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (THEi) President Prof Alan Kin Tak Lau congratulated graduates and acknowledged students’ dedication: “We could not be more proud of our graduates who have achieved incredible results academically and in many different areas, and for becoming such all-round persons. My warmest congratulations to all graduates and best wishes for your continued success in the future."
At the ceremonies, students individually crossed the stage to receive recognition and blessings from the President, Dean and the distinguished guests. Following the conferral of degrees came another much anticipated moment in the academic year: the presentation of honorary appointments.
THEi Honorary Appointment is conferred on persons from the industries of conspicuous merit who are outstanding in their fields, or who have made exemplary contributions to the common good.

Four Certificates of Honorary Professorship were presented this year (In no particular order):
Professor Leung King-lon, Alvin
Prof. Leung King-lon, Alvin, is the owner-chef of Bo Innovation, the award-winning Michelin-starred restaurant.
With his trademark, fiery charisma and ‘rock and roll’ image, Prof. Alvin Leung has blazed a trail of his own in the culinary industry. The self-proclaimed ‘Demon Chef’ British born, raised in Ontario, he entered the culinary world briefly as a busboy before pursuing a formal education in engineering, eventually joining his family’s business where he trained and practiced as an engineer, as a result, he developed a methodological yet creative approach to cooking.
In 2003, he began cooking professionally when he partnered with a speak-easy called Bo which he later renamed as Bo Innovation. Since then, he has opened restaurants around the world including Hong Kong, Toronto, Dubai, Kuala Lumper, Singapore and Shen Zhen.
He is often sought after for media and leading campaigns for major luxury brands and hotels. A familiar face on mass media, he has appeared on television shows such as MasterChef Canada, Wok The World, The Maverick Chef. Eager to share his cooking passion with the youth in the kitchen. He regularly give talks at culinary schools, judges culinary competitions and is the president of the Canadian Bocuse d’Or team.
