Forums, Workshops & Seminars

On 26th April 2018, we had a full house for our technical seminar on the development of Central Kowloon Route (CKR) which was co-organized by The Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation (CIHT) Hong Kong Region, The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) and the Faculty of Science and Technology of THEi.

We were delighted to have Ir Eric CHAN, Director of Infrastructure of Arup and the past Chairman of HKIE Civil Division and Ir Alan LOW, Technical Director of Mott MacDonald and the immediate Past Chairman of CIHT-HKR as our guest speakers to give the audiences an overview as well as some interesting details of the project. The difficulties encountered during feasibility studies, public consultations, alignment design of the road route and preservation of cultural heritages were discussed and shared with over 160 audiences and more than 100 practicing engineers from the industries.

About Central Kowloon Route (CKR)

CKR is a 4.7 km long dual 3-lane trunk road in Central Kowloon linking Yau Ma Tei Interchange in West Kowloon with the road network on Kai Tak Development and Kowloon Bay in East Kowloon.  CKR would effectively connect to the road networks in East Kowloon and West Kowloon in order to alleviate traffic congestion and would properly preserve the Yau Ma Tei Police Station, Temple Street Night Market, Tin Hau Temple and Yung Shu Tau culture at the same time.  The construction of CKR commences in 2018 and is targeted to be completed in 2025/2026.
