What is Building Services Engineering?
Building Services Engineering (BSE) is about the design, installation and maintenance of all mechanical and electrical aspects within a building. Building Services Engineers work closely with other construction professionals in order to develop a safe, comfortable, sustainable and environmental friendly building.

Career Path of a Building Services Engineer:
- Consultant Engineer: Design layouts and propose requirements of building services systems for new buildings.
- Contractor: Supervise the installation of building services and commissioning systems.
- Facilities Manager: Conduct operation, servicing and continuous commissioning of existing buildings.

Study Tours and Technical Visits
Malaysia Study Tour 2019
In August 2019, 14 BSE students joined a 7-day study tour which was jointly organized by ASHRAE and THEi. During the tour, students visited Greentech Malaysia & PTM GEO Building and Universiti Kuala Lumpur - Malaysia France Institute - UniKL MFI for academic exchange. ASHRAE provided technical seminars to students in enhancing their technical knowledge in BSE. Besides, students enjoyed bowling and other leisure activities during the time in Malaysia.
Technical Visit in Hong Kong Jockey Club
In October 2019, THEi organised a technical visit to Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC). The technical staff in HKJC introduced the Chiller Plant Systems and the broadcasting studies inside HKJC. The visit provided an opportunity for the students to gain practical knowledge in order to achieve the outcome of our Strong Vocationally-Oriented programme - to nurture professionals for the industries that are related to Building Services Engineering

*Under the Non-means-tested Subsidy Scheme for Self-financing Undergraduate Studies in Hong Kong (NMTSS), an annual subsidy up to HK$33,100 will be provided to Hong Kong students who have attained:
(a) “3322” in HKDSE when they are enrolled in eligible self-financing first-year-first-degree programmes; or
(b) relevant sub-degree qualifications when they are enrolled in eligible self-financing top-up degree programmes.
