*THEi has a plan to separate the “Sports Coaching” specialisation of the Programme and develop it into a new Sports Coaching degree programme, which is not under the Study Subsidy Scheme for Designated Professions/Sectors (SSSDP) in AY 2024/25 , and, subject to the approval of HKCAAVQ, to have the Programme centred around two specialisations effective from AY 2024/25, namely, “Sports Therapy” and “Sports Management”.

Programme Aims
In recent years, a strong demand for sports and recreation professionals has been constituted by the rapid development of the sports and recreation industry in Hong Kong. This programme aims to provide students with a rigorous and intellectual programme of study; especially for those who wish to pursue or further advance their careers in the core areas of sports coaching, sports therapy, or sports management. Through high-quality education and training; this programme not only emphasises the importance of theoretical knowledge, but also the development of students’ practical and professional skills through gaining work experiences in the industry, which is undertaken during Year 3 and Year 4. Students are expected to be professionally and/or clinically competent in their disciplines upon their graduation. Students will specialise in one of the following three specialisations: (1) sports coaching, (2) sports therapy, and (3) sports management.

- The Sports Therapy specialisation of this programme is accredited by The Society of Sports Therapists, UK.
- The Sports Coaching specialisation of this programme is accepted by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) Education Recognition Program (ERP).
Study Subsidy Scheme for Designated Professions/Sectors
This programme is in the Government's Study Subsidy Scheme for Designated Professions/Sectors (SSSDP). Please click here for more details. Admission to the subsidised places for Year 1 Entry will be through the Joint University Programmes Admissions System (JUPAS) while admission to the self-financed places for Year 3 Entry can be made through VTC Web-based Admissions System.

Entrance Requirements for Year 1:

Programme-specific Requirements :
- For HKDSE, a maximum of two Applied Learning (ApL) subjects can be counted for admission purpose. Relevant ApL subjects include: Sports Coaching and Management, Hospitality Services in Practice, Health Care Practice, Exercise Science and Health Fitness, Events Planning and Operation, Fundamental Health Care, Sports and Fitness Coaching, Rehabilitation Care Practice and eSports Technology / eSports Technology and Management.
- For the HKDSE “Physical Education (PE)” subject, the subject score with weighting x 2.0 will be used in the calculation of admission score.
- Applicants may be required to attend an interview.
Entrance Requirements for Year 3:
Higher Diploma OR equivalent sub-degree qualifications/studies in a relevant area of study.
Remarks:
- Additional core modules are required (with fee charged) for sub-degree graduates according to the educational background of individuals.
- All applicants are screened and selected by an Admission and Interview Panel. All interviews are conducted in English.

Tuition Fee
- The tuition fees are charged according to the number of credit points taken during a semester.
- The tuition fee for academic year 2023/24 is $3,440 per credit point for both Year-1 Entry and Year-3 Entry. Tuition fees are subject to annual reviews.
Scholarships and Awards
THEi students are eligible to apply for three categories of scholarships - Programme-specific scholarships, THEi Scholarships, Government Scholarships.
(a) Programme-specific Scholarships
(I) Hong Kong China Rugby Scholarship
The Hong Kong Rugby Football Union (HKRFU) Charitable Trust Fund was set up to provide financial assistance to those committed rugby players who have satisfactory scholastic achievements with needs for financial support. The Scholarships will be awarded at the discretion of the Hong Kong Rugby Football Union Charitable Trust Fund Committee. Incentive Award has established this year to reward applicant with outstanding performance.
(II) Elite Athletes Charitable Trust Scholarships
The Hong Kong Elite Athletes Association (HKEAA) with its aims to promoting sports, has offered scholarship to those who are keen to take part in sports or work for the industry.
