Programme Structure
This is a credit-based programme, which students will normally complete over 4 years (in 8 semesters). Students are required to take 132 credit points with modules as shown below and an Industrial Attachment module for work-integrated learning. To encourage lifelong learning in general, and to provide students with greater flexibility, the programme will be offered through a credit-based module accumulation system with a multi-entry and multi-exit structure.
Sports Therapy
This specialisation prepares students to prevent, recognise and evaluate, manage, treat and when appropriate refer onwards for various sports and exercise related injuries. Students will also learn how to design and evaluate training programmes for rehabilitation purposes. As professionals in sports therapy, graduates are expected to solve problems that arise during the process of rehabilitation, and to understand the education and professional practice issues in the sports therapy area. This pathway is accredited by The Society of Sports Therapists (UK) and offers the eligibility for full membership of the Society, at the appropriate fee, on successful completion and award of the BSocSci (Hons) Sport and Recreation Management (Sports Therapy).
Sports Management
This specialisation prepares students to suggest feasible solutions to solve problems that arise in the recreation and leisure workplace. Students will learn how to perform supervisory and managerial duties in recreation and leisure management. They are also expected to communicate effectively and professionally with relevant stakeholders.
