TITLE :

Part-Time Research Assistant I/II (Digital Manufacturing) (Ref.: O/THEi-DCEE/PT_RAI_II(DM)/12/25)

Department of Construction, Environment and Engineering

Major Duties:

The appointee(s) will report directly to the Principal Investigator (PI) and support research under an RGC FDS project on water distribution network monitoring, with a focus on leak detection using hybrid sensing approaches (including fiber-optic sensing and transient/pressure-wave analysis) and AI-enabled data analytics. Responsibilities include conducting literature reviews; assisting in experimental preparation, testing, and data acquisition related to pipeline monitoring; organising, preprocessing, and analysing time-series/sensing data; supporting the development and evaluation of data-driven methods for leak identification/localisation as directed by the PI; and maintaining clear technical documentation. Additionally, the appointee(s) will assist in drafting research reports, presentations, and publications.

Requirements:

For the post of Research Assistant I, applicants should have a recognised Master’s degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science/Data Science, or a related discipline, or a recognised degree in related disciplines with relevant work experience; or equivalent.

For the post of Research Assistant II, applicants should have a recognised sub-degree or above in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science/Data Science, or a related discipline.

Applicants should have hands-on research experience in embedded systems and data processing, with good programming skills (e.g., Python/C++). Preference will be given to applicants with experience in artificial intelligence/machine learning, particularly for time-series or sensor-data analytics. Good communication skills, self-motivation, and the ability to work independently with clear documentation are also expected.

Notes:

(1) The appointee(s) may be required to perform duties at different sites and work irregular hours, shifts, and on Saturdays and Sundays as necessary.
(2) The remuneration package will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
(3) The appointee(s)
will work at either Chai Wan or Tsing Yi Campus.
