TITLE :

Part-time Lecturer (English Language)

School of General Education and Languages

Major Duties:

The appointee shall report to the Head of the School of General Education and Languages (SGEL), work as part of a team, and engage in teaching and related learning activities, developing programme curriculum, teaching & learning, and assessment materials.  He/She shall also support students in their learning, participate in academic and scholarly activities, and undertake academic and administrative support services for the English for Academic Studies (EAS) and English for Professional Purposes (ESP) modules.

Requirements:

(a) (i) A recognised Master’s degree in English Language / English Language and Literature / Language Studies (English) / Linguistics / Education (English) / English Communication / Translation (English); OR
      (ii) A recognised Master’s degree in other fields, but with relevant English teaching qualifications, such as Postgraduate Certificate / Diploma in Education (major in English), Teaching English as a Second Language or Teaching English as a Foreign Language or Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CELTA / Trinity CertTESOL or English-teaching certifications recognised by TESL Canada) or English for Specific Purposes (ESP). A transcript with course details, including the number of hours of instruction and practicum should be provided for consideration.
(b) At least 4 years of teaching experience at the tertiary level;
(c) Good communication, interpersonal, administrative, presentation and IT skills;
(d) Good problem-solving and time management skills; and
(e) A good team player, able to work on own initiative and embrace challenges.

Notes:

(1) The appointee may be required to perform duties at different sites and work irregular hours, including Saturdays and Sundays as necessary.
(2) The remuneration package will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
(3) The appointee will work at the Chai Wan and Tsing Yi Campuses.
