Major Duties:
The appointee is expected to contribute to the planning, development, implementation and periodic review of the Master of Science in Digital Tourism and Hospitality Management (MScDTHM) programme. The programme aims to equip students with advanced management skills related to the digital innovation and emerging technologies in the tourism and hospitality industry, including digital marketing strategies, data-driven ESG and sustainable tourism practices, and digital-enabled quality service management.
The appointee will be required to provide strong academic leadership in the formulation of learning and teaching strategies and curriculum development in at least one of the following modules:
- AI Revolutions and Applications in Tourism & Hospitality;
- Business Intelligence & Analytics;
- Capstone Applied Project;
- Cyber Security in Business;
- Digital Business Strategy & Transformation;
- Digital Marketing;
- Ethics in a Digital World;
- Innovations in the Global Tourism & Hospitality Industry;
- Research Methods & Data Analytics in Tourism & Hospitality Management;
- Smart Technologies in Tourism & Hospitality;
- Strategic Innovation & Entrepreneurship;
- Technologies in Customer Service Management;
- Technology Solution for ESG and Sustainable Tourism & Hospitality; and
- Tourism & Hospitality Revenue Management.
The appointee will take part in teaching and supervising student work; delivering a quality programme; and leading and participating in scholarly activities, including but not limited to research, consultancy, networking, and collaboration with industry partners to promote the Institute and the programme. S/He will also be expected to maintain close liaison with industry, commerce, and other educational institutions on collaborative arrangements to promote and ensure the relevance and excellence of the programme. Experience in new programme development and accreditation exercises is highly preferred.
The appointee will provide face-to-face and potentially online instruction at the graduate and / or undergraduate level in both Digital Tourism and Hospitality Management and related courses, as well as maintaining a record of excellence in teaching, student advising and career mentoring. The appointee appointed at the rank of Professor / Associate Professor will be required to oversee the MScDTHM and related programmes and to play a major role in the accreditation and re-accreditation exercises of the MScDTHM programme.
Requirements:
The successful candidate should have a recognised Doctoral degree in Tourism and Hospitality Management or related discipline, with relevant teaching experience at the tertiary level; demonstrate achievements in research and scholarly activities, and possess experience in professional practice in the relevant fields; and have high proficiency in English and Chinese, including Putonghua. S/he must also fulfil one of the following criteria:
(a) Mother tongue/language is Putonghua; or
(b) Received a recognised Bachelor’s degree or above of which the Medium of Instruction (MOI) was Putonghua; or
(c) At least 3 years’ working experience in Chinese Mainland or other Putonghua speaking countries or regions; or
(d) Attained one of the following qualifications:
i. Grade B, Level 3 or above in the Putonghua Shuiping Ceshi (PSC) – Putonghua Proficiency Test administered by the State Language Commission; or
ii. Level 3 or above in the Language Proficiency Assessment for Teachers (Putonghua) administered by the Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority (HKEAA) or equivalent.
Notes:
(1) The appointee may be required to perform duties at different sites and outside Hong Kong, and work irregular hours, shifts, and on Saturdays and Sundays as necessary.
(2) The remuneration package will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
(3) The appointee will work at the Chai Wan Campus and/or nearby teaching premises.
