TITLE :

Programme Leader of the Master of Science in Urban Forestry and Culture Management (at Associate Professor rank) (Ref.: O/THEi-DCEE/PL(MScUFCM)/11/25)

Department of Construction, Environment and Engineering

Major Duties:

The appointee will report to the Vice President (Academic) and will serve as the Programme Leader to oversee the MScUFCM programme and lead the teaching team. S/He will provide strong academic and management leadership in the formulation of learning and teaching strategies; cross-disciplinary curriculum development, programme promotion, recruitment of students and accreditation exercises.  The appointee will also take part in teaching and supervising capstone applied business projects and student work; delivering a high quality programme; and leading and participating in scholarly activities, including but not limited to research, consultancy, networking, collaboration with industry and promoting the institute and the programme.  S/He will be expected to maintain close contacts with industry, commerce, and other educational institutes for collaborative arrangements to promote and ensure the relevance and excellence of the programme.

Requirements:

The successful candidate should have a recognised Doctoral degree, in Horticulture, Geography, Environmental Science, Botany, Ecology, Landscape Management and Urban Planning or a related discipline, with solid teaching experience at the tertiary level.  The candidate should also have good professional standing with strong industry networks, achievements in professional practice and applied research activities The candidate should possess a track record of research publications.

S/He should have good interpersonal and communication skills, and high proficiency in English and Chinese, including Putonghua S/He must also fulfil one of the following criteria:

(a) Mother tongue / language is Putonghua; or
(b) Received a recognised bachelor’s degree or above for which the Medium of Instruction (MOI) was Putonghua; or
(c) At least 3 years’ work experience in Chinese Mainland or other Putonghua speaking countries or regions; or
(d) Achieved at least Grade B, Level 3 in the Putonghua Shuiping Ceshi (PSC) – Putonghua Proficiency Test administered by the State Commission on Language Work.

Notes:

(1) The MOI of the MScUFCM programme is Putonghua.
(2) The appointee may be required to perform duties at different sites and outside Hong Kong, and work irregular hours, shifts and on Saturdays and Sundays as necessary.
(3) The remuneration package will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
(4) The appointee will work at the Chai Wan Campus.
