Eight Product Design students from THEi were awarded Gold, Silver, Bronze and six Merit Awards under the “Student Division in the Hong Kong Smart Design Awards (HKSDA) 2018” which was organized by the Hong Kong Exporter Association. The award ceremony was held on 16 April 2018 with the presence of Dean Leslie Chen, Programme Leader Tris Kee, Teaching Fellow Andy Lai and students.

 

It is the third time for THEi Product Design students to participate in the HKSDA and we have been awarded the Gold and Silver awards for three years consistently. We have eight students with nine designs entered the final list which included over 120 student entries from various local design schools. The details of awardees are as below:

 

Gold Award: Chan Ka Hung, Isaac - BA(Hons) in Product Design Year 2

Silver Award: Wong Shing Yeung, Richard - BA(Hons) in Product Design Year 2

Bronze Award: Cheng Po Hin - BA(Hons) in Product Design Year 1

Merit Award: Au Yeung Cheuk Hong - BA(Hons) in Product Design Year 4

Merit Award: Chan Ka Hung, Isaac - BA(Hons) in Product Design Year 2

Merit Award: Cheng Yuen Tung, Janet - BA(Hons) in Product Design Year 1

Merit Award: Choi Shek Wai - BA(Hons) in Product Design Year 1

Merit Award: Lam Yuk Yung - BA(Hons) in Product Design Year 3

Merit Award: Yik Siu Fun, Cherry - BA(Hons) in Product Design Year 3

 

Besides the student awards, we have teaching fellow, Mr. Alex King winning a Merit Award in the Conceptual Group: Creative Individual with his project Chopping Board with Sharpener.

 

Our Year 3 student Kurt Fan joined company InnoSphere Ltd. And won a Silver Award in the professional category for a project named Nutshell, which was a travel coffee grinder.  

 

The winning awards represent the continuous efforts of the Product Design students and the teaching team.
