The Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (THEi) is pleased to announce on November 11, 2024 that it has officially joined as an Associate Member of the “Alliance of Universities of Applied Sciences”, following an invitation from the Government. Together with three self-financing post-secondary institutions, THEi will follow the strategy of fostering industry-institution collaboration and diversified development, using a multi-pronged approach to promote vocational education. This will strengthen and improve the pathways for vocational education and cultivate high-quality talents equipped with practical knowledge and skills. For example, THEi will organise international conferences, enhance exchange and cooperation with applied science institutions in Mainland China and overseas, and collaborate on and research applied education at the post-secondary level to elevate the status of vocational education in the eyes of society, parents, and students.

THEi has consistently upheld the educational philosophy of “Applying Science, Empowering the Future,” providing “Applied Science-based” bachelor’s degree programmes that meet industry needs and keep pace with the times. THEi is also actively preparing to apply for the elevation to a University of Applied Sciences.

Looking ahead, THEi will respond to the calls of the Government and work alongside other self-financing post-secondary institutions to improve advanced pathways for vocational education, nurturing more application-oriented professionals for various industries.
