Mr. Justin Lau is currently serving as the Assistant Professor of BA (Hons) in Digital Advertising at the Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (THEi).
He received his Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Creative Media from the City University of Hong Kong with scholarship from “Swire University Scholarship Fund”, his Master of Design (Strategic Design) from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University’s School of Design, and his Postgraduate Diploma in Education (Professional Vocational Education) from The Hong Kong Institute of Education. Justin is also a Full Member of Hong Kong Designers Association (MHKDA), Certified Professional of Autodesk 3ds Max Design, and a Registered Teacher under Hong Kong Education Ordinance.
Justin has established himself as a seasoned creative director, art director and freelancer. His expertise encompasses various domains of commercial design, including graphic design, branding, publishing, advertising, web and interaction, event and exhibition, and photography. Throughout his career, Justin has dedicated himself to the advancement of design education, focusing on creativity, studio practice, curriculum development, and the design of experiential learning activities.
Prior to joining THEi, Justin held teaching positions in numerous tertiary education institutes, including the Hong Kong Baptist University, the College of Professional and Continuing Education at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education, the Hong Kong Design Institute, the School of Continuing and Professional Studies at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Coventry University, the University of Sunderland, and Raffles Design Institute, among others.
Justin’s passion for community engagement is evident through his involvement in the Hong Kong Community Museum Project’s “In Search of Marginalized Wisdom – Sham Shui Po Craftsperson Exhibition 2007.” Furthermore, in October 2011, he served as a creative consultant at the Hong Kong Design Institute, leading a student-commercial project. Later, from 2016 to 2019, Justin’s innovative ideas and dedication to excellence were recognized through numerous incubation and innovation awards, highlighting his ability to combine his creative talents with business acumen.
With his extensive academic background, professional experience, and dedication to design education, Mr. Justin Lau continues to inspire and shape the future of digital advertising at THEi, leaving a lasting impact on both his students and the industry as a whole.
