Programme Aims
The Programme aims to enable students to acquire a solid understanding and foundation in both practical and theoretical knowledge in Building Services Engineering (BSE) to serve the manpower needs of the building services industry in Hong Kong. The Programme has been accredited by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications (HKCAAVQ). At QF Level 5, it is developed with a strong vocational orientation to provide students with the necessary engineering and managerial knowledge and skills to pursue careers in BSE.
Career Prospects
Graduates of the Programme will be capable of assuming duties in any sectors of the building services industry such as consultancy, contracting, operation and maintenance, research and technical support. They can advance to managerial positions in the construction fields, government departments, or facility management companies.
Graduates of the Programme with good academic performance can apply for direct entry to the senior year of the Bachelor degree study. The Programme provides an effective top-up, conversion, or articulation path into the BSE discipline.
Entry Requirements
- The minimum entry requirement for the Programme should normally be the following:
A VTC’s Professional Diploma in relevant discipline at QF Level 4, or Higher Diploma or equivalent qualifications in a relevant area of study such as building services engineering; OR - Graduates with a Professional Diploma, a Higher Diploma or an Associate Degree in other engineering or science programmes or equivalent will be considered for admission on a case-by-case basis and their suitability will be evaluated by the Programme Team. These students may be required to study one or more bridging modules as determined by the Programme Leader.
Tuition Fee
The total tuition fee for academic year 2024/25 is HK$94,000. (HK$93,600 being the tuition fee and HK$400 being the caution money).
Tuition fees are subject to annual reviews.

Vplus Subsidy Scheme
Students studying this Programme may apply for Vplus Engineering of the HKSAR Government (https://cpe.vtc.edu.hk/ad/vplus). Successful applicants will be refunded 60% of the tuition fees, subject to a maximum of $45,000 per person. For details, you may contact the Vplus Office at 3757-9237 or by vplus@vtc.edu.hk.

Continuing Education Fund
Students studying individual modules of this Programme may apply for Continuing Education Fund of the HKSAR Government (https://www.wfsfaa.gov.hk/cef/en/index.htm). Students who have successfully completed our CEF reimbursable course can apply for reimbursement of the tuition fees up to $25,000.
Some modules of “Professional Diploma in Building Services Engineering” have been included in the list of reimbursable courses under Continuing Education Fund. The mother course “Professional Diploma in Building Services Engineering” of the modules is recognised under the Qualifications Framework (QF Level 5).
