Urban Tree Conservation and Appreciation Secondary School Programme
Talk for tree conservation and Management in Hong Kong
Aims: To provide students with ability to understand tree issues in Hong Kong; and develop them with scientific, social and cultural awareness in urban tree management, conservation and appreciation
Description: The programme include 4 talks and 5 field studies. These activities cover topics of ‘tree knowledge and conservation’, ‘tree risk assessment and management’, and ‘heritage trees and stonewall trees in urban Hong Kong’. The programme is tailor-made for secondary students, the contents are related to the curriculum of HKDSE Liberal Studies, Geography and Biology. The related subjects and study areas are listed below:

In order to motivate students to participate the activities, we will offer the following awards:
Student who has participated one of the activities will receive a participation certificate.
Student who had attended a talk and a field study, organized an activity about urban tree conservation and appreciation in his/her school, and handed in a group report before 31 August 2016 will receive an award of Hong Kong Tree Conservation Youth Ambassador. Details to be announced later.
Three schools which have the largest number of participants will be presented with Award for the Most Participation of the programme.
Eligibility: Form 3 to Form 6 Students
Fees: Free of Charge
Quota: The activities are enrolled on a first-come-first served basis
- Talks-200; Field Studies-60 (Priority will be given to students who have attended the talks)
Application: Return the completed application form ( Indivitual / School ) to Faculty of Design and Environment at Room KT531, 30 Renfrew Road, Kowloon Tong. Please mark ‘Urban Tree Conservation and Appreciation’ on the envelope.
