Announcement of Appointment
Professor Christina Hong has been appointed as the President of the Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (THEi), who provides strategic leadership and operational management of the Institute, and promotes the Institute’s mission and profile through fostering strong academic partnerships and collaborations with industry and employer groups both locally and internationally.
Professor Hong brings an extensive background in educational leadership and management from Australia and New Zealand, and has disciplinary expertise in the creative industries and teacher education. Prior to commencing with THEi, Prof Hong was the Chief Academic Officer for TAFE Queensland, Australia. Her other prior roles included the Chief Executive and Deputy Chief Executive of Southbank Institute of Technology, Associate Professor and Associate Dean (Teaching and Learning) of Queensland University of Technology, as well as a number of management positions in the tertiary education sector of New Zealand.
Prof Hong holds a Doctor of Philosophy Degree (Griffith University) and a Master of Arts Degree (Texas Woman’s University). She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree (Hons), Graduate Diploma of Education, and Diploma of Teaching from Massey University in New Zealand.
