Public Relations and Sports Events Series (1)

Student Activity

Sports Media Communication and Public Relations students, led by Teaching Fellow, Dr. Liane Lee, will be reporting a series of industry-experiential learning experiences in 10 weeks by attending various Public Relations and Sports Events organized by our industry partners, N Square Company and NOW TV Sports Channel. The first event is a Premier preview and meet the ORICA-SCOTT sports star event organized by Sun Hung Kai Properties at Shatin New Town Plaza on 7 Oct, 2017. Below is a reflective learning commentary made by Sports Media Communication and Public Relations year 4 student, Enoch Wu:

Sun Hung Kai Properties Hong Kong Cyclotron kicks off today. Yesterday, I was invited to attend the premiere of the All for One (2017 film) which was conducted at Shatin New Town Plaza. The film is a documentary of the Australia’s cycling team - Orica-Scott. It reviews the first five years of cycling team journey and development from a newbie in the industry to the first ProTour cycling team of Australia. This documentary features many unique shots relating to cycling competition that we’ve never seen. Some of the shots are really interesting such as relaxing moment of the cyclists, the moment capturing coach’s reaction to the winning race and the daily training of the team. However, there are some sad moments like crash accidents, as well. In my view, the most impressive moment is that the teammates sacrifice their personal success and help the leader to win. In their mind, the team leader’s victory belongs to the entire team. This moment truly reflects the meaning of teamwork and team spirit. Generally speaking, it is a great documentary.

After the premiere, a game session was arranged for the local audiences, which allowed them to interact with the Australia’s cycling team - Orica-Scott. In the game session, HK audiences got a chance to challenge the professional cyclists. It was very exciting.
