THEi Work-integrated Learning (WIL) Day
Industry Collaborations
An institute-wide event "Work-integrated Learning (WIL) Day" was held on 22 Mar 2024 (Fri) at THEi Chai Wan Campus. The event aimed to introduce the latest WIL strategy of THEi and provide a platform to foster the connections between Industry Partners, academic staff and students, as well as to recognise of contribution of our outstanding Industry Partners. Over a hundred participants attended the event.
Professor Alan LAU, President of THEi, kicked off the event by delivering the opening address. He highlighted the significance of WIL for the student development and hoped that the Industry Partners could continue to provide more industrial attachment opportunities to the students. Mr. Terry KWAN, Director of the Human Resources of FSE Lifestyle Services Limited, and Ms. Winnie LAI, Director of the Human Resources of Hyatt Regency Hong Kong, Tsim Sha Tsui, Hyatt Hotels Corporation, were our guest speakers of the event. Mr. Terry KWAN shared the strategy and experience of his company in offering WIL placement to students and preparing the students for their professional career. Ms. Winnie LAI gave an insightful sharing about the approaches of attracting and nurturing young talents. Two THEi students, Mr. Michael WU, student of the Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Horticulture, Arboriculture and Landscape Management, and Mr. Rick YUEN, student of the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Hotel Operations Management, also gave a presentation on their learning experience of WIL placement respectively. They both recognised the importance of WIL for their career development. The event concluded with an award ceremony. Around 40 organisations were selected as a recipient of the THEi’s “Outstanding WIL Industry Partner Award” in recognition of their outstanding and valuable contributions in offering internship opportunities to THEi’s students.
The event has paved the way for further and deeper collaborations between THEi and industry. THEi will continue the efforts to strengthen the partnership with the industry.
