President's Message
Welcome to THEi Student Applied Research Presentations 2023
With the easing of the COVID-19 pandemic in Hong Kong, THEi was able to re-open its campuses and welcome the return of our students and staff. Learning is now in full swing accompanied by energy and eagerness. Engaging THEi students in applied research through their Final Year Projects is a vital part of education at THEi with the objectives of developing students’ design thinking and problem-solving abilities, and directing their learning focuses to the needs of Hong Kong industries and people.
I am pleased to bring you the Student Applied Research Presentations 2023. It is exciting that there are 85 submissions from students across 20 programmes of the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), Faculty of Design and Environment (FDE), and Faculty of Management and Hospitality (FMH). The projects are practical and relevant for today’s society, with themes ranging from innovative design and green products to clean energy and energy-saving measures, consumer experience with technologies, caring for the body and mind, and dairy alternatives and new food development using food by-products.
The Presentation is held in hybrid mode this year. From 20 November 2023 onward, these projects, in the form of abstracts, posters and video presentations, will be on display on THEi's website. Physical poster exhibitions will be held from 20 to 24 November on the Tsing Yi Campus, and from 27 November to 1 December on the Chai Wan Campus.
Last but not the least, it is my honour to welcome you to this special event, where we will witness how our graduates have embarked on a journey to become genuine applied scientists.
