Major Duties:
The appointee shall report to the Head of the School of General Education and Languages (SGEL), work in a team and engage in the following duties:
(a) Deliver teaching and related learning activities to support students’ academic language development;
(b) Develop and revise programme curriculum to meet academic learning standards;
(c) Support students in their learning and provide academic guidance;
(d) Develop learning and teaching materials (including self-access and e-learning materials) with AI tools and other new technologies;
(e) Monitor and assess student progress, and provide constructive feedback and learning strategies;
(f) Collaborate with the Centre for Language and Enhancement to implement initiatives for a dynamic learning environment;
(g) Participate in academic and scholarly activities that contribute to research and professional development;
(h) Provide academic and administrative support services to the School and the Institute; and
(i) Perform all other duties as assigned by the Head of SGEL and the senior management of the Institute.
Requirements:
(a) A recognised Master’s degree, preferably a Doctoral degree, in TESOL, English Language or Literature, Linguistics, English Language Education or related disciplines;
(b) At least 3 years of experience in teaching academic English at the tertiary level;
(c) Experience in research project funding and language centre coordination;
(d) Good communication, interpersonal and presentation skills;
(e) Native or native-like English proficiency;
(f) A good command of Putonghua and/or Cantonese preferred; and
(g) Engagement with industries and/or professional bodies will be an advantage.
Notes:
(1) The candidate(s) may be appointed on short-term appointment.
(2) The post is at the rank of Teaching Fellow I/II.
(3) The appointee(s) may be required to perform duties at different sites and outside Hong Kong, and work irregular hours, shifts and on Saturdays and Sundays as necessary.
(4) The remuneration package will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
(5) The appointee(s) will work at the Chai Wan and Tsing Yi Campuses.
