Major Duties:
The appointee shall report to the Programme Leader and Head of Department and engage in teaching and learning activities, develop programme curriculum and teaching, learning and assessment materials, support students in their learning, participate in academic and scholarly activities of the Department, and undertake academic and administrative support services for the Master of Science in Urban Forestry and Culture Management (MScUFCM) programme.
The appointee will also assist in the formulation of learning and teaching strategies and curriculum development in at least one of the following modules:
- Capstone Applied Project
- Culture Conservation & Management in Urban Forestry
- Entrepreneurial Leadership in Urban Forestry Management
- Geographical Information System & Tree Inventory Management
- Innovative Technologies & Applications in Urban Forestry Management
- Plant Culture
- Recreational Management & Planning in Urban Forests
- Sustainable Urban Forestry & Arboriculture
- Traditional Chinese Yuanlin Theory & Practice
- Urban Ecosystem Ecology
- Urban Forest Ecophysiology
- Urban Forestry Policy & Governance
- Urban Planning & Green Infrastructure
Requirements:
The successful candidate should have a recognised Doctoral degree, in Horticulture, Geography, Environmental Science, Botany, Ecology, Landscape Management and Urban Planning or a related discipline, with solid teaching experience at the tertiary level and/or experience in professional practice in the related fields. S/He should have experience in supervising students’ Final Year Projects, and have good interpersonal and communication skills, and high proficiency in written and spoken English and Chinese, including Putonghua. Proven records of linkage with industry or professional bodies would be an advantage. He/she must also fulfil one of the following criteria:
(a) Mother tongue/language is Putonghua; or
(b) Received a recognised Bachelor’s degree or above of which the Medium of Instruction (MOI) was Putonghua; or
(c) Has at least over 3 years’ work experience in Chinese Mainland or other Putonghua speaking countries or regions; or
(d) Achieved at least Grade B, Level 3 in the Putonghua Shuiping Ceshi (PSC) – Putonghua Proficiency Test administered by the State Language Commission.
Notes:.
(1) The Medium of Instruction of the MScUFCM programme is Putonghua.
(2) The post is at the rank of Teaching Fellow I.
(3) The appointee may be required to perform duties at different sites and work irregular hours, shifts, and on Saturdays and Sundays as necessary.
(4) The remuneration package will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
(5) The appointee will work at the Chai Wan Campus and/or nearby teaching premises.
