The Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (THEi) welcomes the Education Bureau’s decision to recognise Saint Francis University as the second University of Applied Sciences in Hong Kong. This recognition will help promote the development of applied sciences and enhance the status of vocational education at the degree level.

Since its establishment, THEi has been committed to providing “Applied Science-based” bachelor’s degree programmes that keep pace with and meet the industry needs, nurturing work professionals with applied skills. THEi is making progress in its goal of becoming a University of Applied Sciences and has also been invited to join as an Associate Member of the “Alliance of Universities of Applied Sciences.” It is hoped that the accreditation for the programme areas will be completed by 2026, allowing collaboration with various stakeholders to implement vocational and academic connections, enhance the status of vocational education, and open pathways for youth to achieve excellence in their respective fields.
