Programme Aims
This programme aims to enable students to become "graduates of choice" for a rapidly changing global fashion design industry, and to equip graduates to enter the world of work at a professional level, who can intelligently and skillfully engage with emerging issues and opportunities, particularly in Mainland China. It also aims to develop students’ creative and practical abilities, and provides a sound grounding in the theoretical and technical aspects of the fashion design and management, thus enabling them to become masters in making and specialists in fashion industry.
The Fashion Design Stream, Fashion Management Stream and Study Options (Fashion Accessories Design, Knitwear Design, Specialised Fashion Design, Fashion Retailing, Fashion Communication) are specially designed to cater for the needs of today’s dynamic and rapidly changing fashion industry, enhance and differentiate students’ career prospects.
Career Prospects
Upon completion of the programme, fashion graduates can go into many different areas of the fashion business. Career prospects include fashion designer, knitwear designer, fashion accessory designer, fashion merchandiser, product developer, fashion buyer, fashion retailing and fashion communication etc.

Programme-specific Requirements
For Year 1 Entry:
- For HKDSE, a maximum of two Applied Learning (ApL) subjects can be counted for admission purpose. Relevant ApL subjects include: Image Design, Fashion and Image Design, Jewellery Arts and Design, Introduction to Theatre Arts, Film and Video Studies, Public Relations and Advertising, Magazine Editing and Production, New Media Communication Strategies, Applied Business Research, Entrepreneurship for SME, Marketing and Online Promotion, Marketing in Global Trade, Purchasing and Merchandising, Applied Psychology, Jewellery and Accessories Design, Creative Advertising, Display and Jewellery Design, The Essentials of Theatre Arts, Film and Transmedia, Accounting for e-Business, Digital Comic Design and Production, PR and Multimedia Communication, Data Application for Business, Tech Basics.
- Applicants may be required to attend an interview with an original work portfolio.
For Year 3 Entry:
Higher Diploma OR equivalent sub-degree qualifications/studies in a relevant area of study.
Remarks:
- Additional core modules are required (with fee charged) for sub-degree graduates according to the educational background of individuals.

- The tuition fees are charged according to the number of credit points taken during a semester.

Programme Curriculum
This is a credit-based programme, which students will normally complete over 4 years (in 8 semesters). Students are required to take 129 credit points with modules as shown below and an Industrial Attachment module for work-integrated learning. To encourage lifelong learning in general, and to provide students with greater flexibility, the programme will be offered through a credit-based module accumulation system with a multi-entry and multi-exit structure.

Work-integrated Learning (WIL) modules are directed industry attachments that provide powerful learning experiences by integrating theoretical learning with its application in the workplace. Students are required to complete 126 hours of Work-integrated Learning to be eligible for the award of Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Fashion Design.
