Prof WANG Peiyu is a prominent figure in Peking Opera (京劇) and the fourth generation of the esteemed Yu School Laosheng (余派老生). Prof WANG is also a recipient of China's highest theatrical honours - the Plum Blossom Award (中國戲劇梅花奬) and the Magnolia Stage Award (上海白玉藺戲劇表演藝術奬) - she has dedicated her career to both preserving and innovating within this centuries-old art form. Her pioneering work extends beyond performance, she has developed specialised teaching materials and introduced Peking Opera to students across 30+ high schools. She contributes to solid popularisation of the centuries-old opera, carrying on the tradition while also trying to break new ground.
