Prof LAU is a seasoned medical professional working in sports medicine field, currently serving as the Chief Medical Executive at the Hong Kong Sports Institute Clinic since 2022. He also holds appointments as Clinical Assistant Professor (Honorary) at the Jockey Club School of Public Health and Primary Care, Faculty of Medicine, CUHK since 2017.
He earned his Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from CUHK in 2002, followed by a Diploma in Family Medicine from HKCFP in 2006. His passion for sports medicine led him to complete a Master of Science in Sports Medicine and Health Science at CUHK in 2012. As the Medical In-charge of the HKSI clinic, Prof LAU has extensive experience providing medical support for major sporting events, including the 1st National Student (Youth) Games (2023), 2nd National Youth Games (2019), and the 13th National Games of the PRC (2017) as part of the HKSAR Delegation Medical Team. His academic contributions include publications in sports cardiology and reflections on clinical practice in elite sports settings. He has also been an invited speaker (attending or online) at prestigious international conferences, including ACSM (USA), FIMS (Athens), AFSM (Saudi Arabia), and the Hong Kong College of Cardiology.
