The Food Innovation Centre project is executed by the Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (THEi) and funded by the Trade and Industrial Organisation Support Fund of the Trade and Industry Department, HKSAR Government.
Food Innovation Centre (FIC) is established in 2021, to support supports the food industry such as local food and drinks manufacturers, food caterers, food traders and wholesalers in food innovation. Ultimately, we aim to enhance the competitiveness of the food industry.
FIC provides food-related education and trainings to empower the local food industry. We also conduct pilot studies with the equipment in the laboratory as to encourage food innovation by developing innovative and healthy food products, optimizing packaging materials and food processing flows.
With the first-ever Electronic Sensing System in Hong Kong, FIC will be the first of its kind in Hong Kong to provide a full range of taste sensing analysis in both quantitative and qualitative methods. The data collected from the Electronic Sensing System would provide a more reliable reference to the food industry for food innovation, shelf-life testing, etc.
