The Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (THEi) welcomes the Education Bureau’s (EDB) announcement of an agreement has been obtained from the Ministry of Education (MoE) to gradually relax the admission quota of students from Mainland China, Macau, and Taiwan for self-financing institutions, increasing to 40% in phases. The arrangement enables self-financing institutions to leverage their flexibility and diversity to nurture graduates with practical knowledge and skills, bridging the tech talent gap, and propelling Hong Kong to become an international hub for high-calibre talent.
Since its establishment, THEi has fostered strong collaboration with the industry and consistently enhanced the quality of its courses. The institute is dedicated to providing “Applied Science-based” bachelor’s degree programmes that attune to industry development to nurture talents with applied skills.
THEi is working ahead towards the direction of University of Applied Sciences and has been invited to join as an Associate Member of the “Alliance of Universities of Applied Sciences.” It is anticipated that the accreditation process for the programme areas will be completed by 2026. This will enable collaboration with various stakeholders to enhance vocational and academic connections. It will also help raise the status of vocational education and create pathways for youth to excel in their chosen fields.
