Traditional Medicinal Diet Meets Future Food: High School Students Redefine Health Cuisine

When you think of “medicinal herbs,” do bitter brews and ancient recipes come to mind? Think again!

Funded by the Chinese Medicine Development Fund and organized by the Department of Food and Health Sciences at THEi, the finale of the「傳統藥膳 x 未來食品」High School Student Innovative Recipe Design Competition wrapped up with great success!

5 student finalist teams took the stage to live-cook dishes combining “Medicine and Food Homology” with modern food science—turning healthy eating into stylish breakfasts and inventive desserts !

Dr Emily CHOI Siu-mei, Assistant Professor of the Department of Food and Health Sciences, highlighted that medicinal cuisine can go far beyond traditional soups and become seasonal menu items in everyday dining, driving value for both public wellness and the silver economy.

The project will also partner with the catering industry to bring these student creations to commercial menus!
