Programme Aims

Provides students with cutting-edge knowledge and technical expertise on design, integration and manufacturing of electric and hybrid propulsion, battery management, vehicle control, autonomous driving, intelligent networked vehicle, charging infrastructure and smart power grid, as well as automotive software and emerging applications by artificial intelligence technology.

Equips students with professional knowledge or skills on project and quality management, industry policy, which are crucial for being an automotive professional, sustainable transportation planning, and design of green mobility solutions.

Career Prospects

Graduates can pursue careers such as System Engineer, Production Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, Industrial Engineer, Design Engineer, Research & Development Engineer, Software Engineer, Test Engineer, Project Engineer, Quality Engineer in the automotive industry. Potential employers include automobile manufacturers, automotive component suppliers and manufacturers, vehicle testing and certification service providers, and automotive research institutes.

Entrance Requirements

For Year 1 entry:

  1. Please refer to the General Entrance Requirements for details.
  2. For HKDSE, a maximum of two Applied Learning (ApL) subjects can be counted for admission purpose.  Relevant ApL subjects include: Electrical and Energy Engineering, Tech Basics and Computer Forensic Technology.
  3.  Applicants may be required to attend an interview.

For Year 3 Entry:

  • Higher Diploma OR equivalent sub-degree qualifications/studies in a relevant area of study.

Remarks:

  1. Additional core modules are required (with fee charged) for sub-degree graduates according to the educational background of individuals.
  2. All applicants are screened and selected by an Admission and Interview Panel. All interviews are conducted in Putonghua.

Tuition fee

  • The tuition fees are charged according to the number of credit points taken during a semester.
  • The tuition fee for academic year 2026/27 per credit: To be announced.

  1. Students may be required to attend classes on other VTC campuses. VTC reserves the right to cancel any programme, revise programme title, content or change the offering institute(s) / campus(es) / class venue(s) if circumstances so warrant.
  2. The programme is newly offered in AY2026/27. The programme will undergo learning programme accreditation with the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications in 2026.

Work-Integrated Learning

Work-integrated Learning (WIL) modules are directed industry attachments that provide powerful learning experiences by integrating theoretical learning with its application in the workplace. Students are required to complete a credit-bearing WIL module, amounting to a minimum of 126 hours to be eligible for the award of Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Electric Vehicle Design and Technology.
