Dr Anthony TYEN was invited to THEi to provide a guest talk on “Cultural Diversity in the Workplace” to our Retail Management students on 21 November 2018.  Dr TYEN shared a lot of real life examples throughout his professional working experience in China, Europe, Middle East and North America.  In particular, the students were impressed to learn from him the importance of a sense of humor in building business relationships of the United States.  He also provided a very illustrative and funny example on comparing the differences between American and Chinese style in terms of the degree of avoidance of confrontation in business meetings.

Dr TYEN, has been in the accountancy and consulting profession for over 40 years.  He holds a Ph.D. degree with research interests in cross-cultural psychology, as well as an MBA degree, both with the Chinese University of Hong Kong.  Dr TYEN is a fellow member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) based in the U.K. as well as an associate member of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA) and a non-practicing member of the Chinese Institute of Certified Public Accountants (CICPA) based in Beijing.  On the commercial side, Dr TYEN has served on the boards of companies listed separately in the Main Board of the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong, NASDAQ in the U.S. and the Toronto Stock Exchange in Canada.
